1. What is an Online Backup Service?
An Online Backup Service is an Internet-based service that allows computer users to routinely backup and recover their important data using a secure and trusted server on the Internet.
2. Why should I choose YottaXpress instead of another on-line backup provider.
YottaXpress is more than an On-line Backup Service. We not only back up your data to a secure off-site location but we also allow for local backups (you supply the device) and disaster recovery imaging which allows you to create an image of your computer so in case of hard drive failure you can quickly restore your computer back to a point in time.
3. Does it make sense to use Online Backup if you have a slow Internet connection?
Depending on the speed of your connection and the size of your backup, your initial backup over the Internet may take several hours or days. Many people with large backup sizes and slower Internet connections will often run their first backup over the weekend. Once the first backup is completed, each subsequent backup is usually a small amount of data that can be backed up in just minutes over a slower connection.
4. How many software licenses do I need for a mapped drive?
The license for the software is based on one license per computer or device. If you want to backup a mapped drive from another Windows system or networked attached storage unit, you will need additional licenses.
5. How do I get notified when my backup is complete?
Click default settings on the left side of the application. Click on the notification tab. Fill out the correct settings and select how much detail should be in the logs. You also have the option to print the logs to the computer’s default printer.
6. How do I verify my data was backed up?
Open the YottaXpress program. On the left will is a list of the latest jobs. You can also find the logs if you select advanced view. You can also test your backups by renaming a document and then restoring that document.
7. My backup was incomplete, how come?
An incomplete backup is most commonly caused by a dropped Internet connection, another system process going on (i.e., defrag) or another backup process kicking off trying to backup identical files.
8. How do I create a Bare Metal Restore backup of my computer?
Within YottaXpress, select the Disaster Recovery Wizard. You will need to create a bootable flash drive and a Disaster Recovery image.
9. Does YottaXpress backup Microsoft Exchange and SQL Server?
Yes. YottaXpress uses Microsoft’s native API’s to backup both. This is the same technology as Microsoft’s built-in backup program commonly known as NTBackup.
10. Can I manage multiple computers from one account?
Each computer that is backed up needs a license. You can use the same user id and password for each computer giving you the ability to manage all the computers. Call us and we will assist you through this process.
